House Divided

What do you do when TCU Purple and UT orange become part of the family dynamic? We embed it in their art!

This ribbon piece was created with the Munir family. Each family member came to the studio and assisted in pulling ribbons that were then placed into the overall composition.

Michael Munir, of Sharif-Munir Custom Homes, builds homes across Texas so he and his wife have a keen eye for design. They wanted this piece to flank each side of a large window with colors to compliment a nearby painting with the addition of alma mater references of TCU purple and UT orange.

The design uses “C” shaped ribbons in a vertical arrangement drawing the eye upward while also anchoring the double volume space. While the two pieces are similar, they are not exact mirrors of one another, adding to its artfulness and interest.

In a recent Instagram post, Michael said it was “such a fantastic experience from start to finish. The team was so amazing to work with and the finished product is absolutely gorgeous in our home.”

Artful Transformations

Earlier this summer, Carlyn Ray Designs collaborated with Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center & Art Reaching Out in welcoming 7 well deserving young women in the DCAC program to our studio. They each created a butterfly to compliment a signature wall ribbon feature. The finished piece was donated to Art for Advocacy which celebrates the transformative healing power of art and raises funds and awareness for DCAC.

At the Art for Advocacy event, held earlier this month, the piece entitled “Transformation” raised over $11,000 for the organization.
