About the Pieces
Each Butterfly Bowl begins with a vision of color, a breath into molten glass, and the possibility of what might emerge.
I begin by shaping the glass into a cocoon-like form, adding layers of molten color that will become its wings. With a final embrace of heat, I begin to spin. Centrifugal force stretches the glass outward, unfolding delicate wings in a beautiful moment of metamorphosis. As the movement slows, gravity gently gathers the glass into soft, flowing folds, capturing a fleeting moment of transformation.
There is a beautiful balance between intention and surrender in this process. I guide the glass through movement and intuition, yet allow the nature of the material to reveal its own possibilities. No two bowls emerge alike. Each carries its own rhythm, character, and expression of light.
Like the butterfly, each piece is a celebration of becoming, a reminder that transformation asks us to embrace change, trust the unknown, and discover the beauty waiting to unfold.
