Abilene Heritage Square Library “Gathered Radiance”
About the Project
Gathered Radiance reflects the collective heart of Abilene, a community shaped by light, learning, and faith. Suspended at the center of the library, this community-driven installation is composed of 400 individual glass elements, 100 of which were decorated by local hands, each carrying a personal story, woven into a shared whole.
The work unfolds as a vertical journey through learning and life. Bright golds and yellows at the base reflect early curiosity, cool blues in the middle evoke exploration and growth, and warm oranges, salmons, and rubies at the upper level speak to wisdom and lived experience.
Like Abilene itself, the piece honors the belief that education, creativity, and community are built through connection, care, and the contributions of many, gathered together in light.
