About the Project

This woven cross is apart of the Jesuit Museum collection.  Gifted to Jesuit Dallas in celebration of 75 years, this Jesuit Cross Weaving symbolizes “inspiring boys to be strong, resilient, luminous Men for Others.”

Carlyn Ray, her team, and Susan Carringer created this spectacular backlit glass cross for Jesuit’s Performance Center.  More than 160 pieces of flat glass cane interlock to create the perfect image of the Jesuit cross inside the 12’x9′ sculpture.  The color-changing lights backlighting the cross allows the school to choose the appropriate color for games, with music, for lent, and also make it blue and gold for the school colors.  Susan and the President, Mike Earsing, came and watched the glass pulling process and helped pull a few pieces as well.  We love sharing the creation of glass and having meaningful hands and hearts be apart of the process.  This piece is very powerful and instigates thought and connection through the space between the glass, illuminated by the light.
