American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge

About the Project

The American Cancer Society – Gene and Jerry Jones Family Hope Lodge Dallas is a very special place for people fighting cancer to come from just outside of Dallas and stay while receiving treatment in the DFW area.

The “Tree of Life” at Hope Lodge greets each resident guest and their caregivers with colors, light, and strength. The sculpture is created from fused glass leaves and birds hanging off hand forged metal branches. The tree is modeled off the tree in the courtyard, a beautiful oak tree. Through history and cultures, oak trees represent courage and endurance. With the roots going deep into the ground, the oak tree has incredible strength and weathers storms. Each person who walks through the door of Hope Lodge is needing courage, endurance, and love. This Tree of Life shows the strength of our community, knowing each leaf and bird represents a person. The colors and light that illuminate the tree bring a sense of joy while the awnings bring nature inside for a peaceful connection for their next steps ahead.
